China Glaze - Dorothy Who?

Today I want to show you a polish from China Glaze.

Dorothy Who? is a medium blue jelly base with blue and silver glitter from the 2009 The Wizard of Ooh Ahz collection which was a rerelease of the original collection that was released in 2001. China Glaze planned the rerelease to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz movie.

It's sooo gorgeous and I just love it! Definitely one of my favorite glitters at the moment and I don't understand why I haven't used this more than I have, because it's just fabulous! *swoon*

The formula was great and it was easy to apply with no problems. Because it's a jelly base it took 3 layers to get totally opaque, but that's okay since it was fairly quick to dry.

I applied 1 layer of top coat for the photos.

Look how pretty and sparkly it is! So beautiful!

OPI - A Color To Diner For

Today I have another OPI to show you.

A Color To Diner For is a beautiful red shimmer from the Fall 2011 Touring America collection. It's a very pretty red that gives your nails a bit of a classic look.

The formula was a bit thin, but it was fairly easy to apply still although the first layer was a bit streaky and patchy. It took 3 layers for full opacity, but the drying time was good so it wasn't a big problem for me.

I had a hard time photographing it outside today because of the snow that kept reflecting, so I edited the light settings a bit to try and show you the true color.
On Friday I'm going to order a light box and some daylight lamps for it, so hopefully I will be able to show you some better photos of the polishes when I get that home. At the moment I can only take good photos in daylight and there's not a lot of that during the winter *sigh*

Date night

Today I want to show you some nail art.

Yesterday was date night with my lovely husband and I wanted to make something classy, but still something a bit romantic. I didn't have much time though, so I ended up with a fairly easy and simple design.

I started out painting all of my nails with 2 coats of Wet 'n Wild - Ebony Hates Chris except for the ring fingers where I applied 2 coats of OPI - Honey Ryder. Then I made french tips on all of the other fingers with Honey Ryder. For the ring fingers I cut a heart in some tape, put it on the nail and sponged it with Ebony Hates Chris. Finished of with top coat on all the fingers except ring fingers, so the texture wouldn't get smooth on those 2.

What do you think about this design?

Oh and don't forget my giveaway!

Perfect Sand - S73

Today I have another texture polish for you *yay*

S73 is a neon pink texture polish with small pink and silvery glitter from the cosmetics brand Perfects Sand collection.

I'm normally not much for neon colors, but today I just felt a need for a bit of summer and an "in your face" color, so I chose this one and I wasn't disappointed at all. It sure is a screaming pink and I love it! Furthermore it has a great formula that made it very easy to apply and was opaque after just 2 coats. As for drying time I was a bit amazed actually. After just 20 mins it was dry enough that I could do stuff around the house without ruining it! And that was of course without a fast drying top coat, so once again Perfect proved that a polish doesn't have to be expensive to be awesome!

Time for you to see for yourself.

I think it's a wonderful color and it's definitely not the last time I'm wearing this!

Literary Lacquers - Marilla's Amethyst Brooch

Today I have another Literary Lacquers polish to show you!

Marilla's Amethyst Brooch is a light purple shimmer with a pink to orange color-shifting flash from the Anne of Green Gables collection.

This polish is very pretty and gives a very sweet and feminine look.
It took 3 coats to get opaque, but it dries fairly quickly and the formula is great to work with, so I didn't mind using 3 layers.

Unfortunately I didn't catch the shimmer very well in the photos. You can see a bit of the pink, but not really the orange, but in reality it looks more obvious.

I thought it needed a little something so I decided to add some glitter and make an accent nail with some stamping.
I think it looks kinda cute.

OPI - Kiss Me At Midnight

Today I want to show you a lovely polish from OPI *yay*

Kiss Me At Midnight is a gorgeous blue liquid sand polish with big silver glitter from the 2013 Mariah Carey Holiday collection.

It's a very pretty bright blue color that really pops with the big glitters that catch the light nicely. The formula was a little thick, but not noticeably and I didn't have any issues applying it. Only 2 coats and it was totally opaque and for a liquid sand the drying time was nice enough, but it does dry slower than normal since I didn't apply a quick drying top coat because I like the rough surface and the way it looks.

Time for photos.

Literary Lacquers - John Thomas/Lady Jane

Today I want to show you one of the polishes I got from the new years sale Literary Lacquers had.

On wednesday I had an exam and I figured it would be fitting with green nails for good luck, so I chose John Thomas/Lady Jane for the purpose.

John Thomas/Lady Jane is a deep forest green glitter polish with many shapes and sizes of green glitter and shimmer and a touch of white glitter from The Good Parts collection. The maker Amy writes describes the inspiration for the polish:

"This polish is inspired by Lady Chatterley's Lover by D. H. Lawrence, published in 1928, specifically the scene where Constance Chatterley and her lover Mellors (the gamekeeper) run naked through the English wood during a rainstorm. After their lovemaking they celebrate the marriage of “John Thomas” to “Lady Jane” if you catch my drift."

It's really easy to work with and the glitter applies very evenly on the nail. The base is very sheer though and I think you might be able to make it opaque on its own in 4-5 layers, but I chose to layer it over a dark green shimmer polish, namely Wet 'n Wild - Sagreena the Teenage Witch, so I won't use it up to quickly.
I used two layers over the undie to give it a bit of depth and I must say I was very pleased with the result. It looked gorgeous! Take a look for yourself.

Photos are with 1 layer of topcoat.

Girly Bits - Fright Night

I got my very first nail polish from Girly Bits which is an indie brand based in Canada and owned by the founder Pam Heil.

Fright Night is a black jelly base with red glitters in various shapes and sizes from the 2012 Halloween collection.  It's very pretty and I really love the black/red combination. Since it's a jelly base it's very sheer and although you might be able to wear it on it's own I think it would take many layers before it got opaque, so I chose to layer it over a black undie. The formula is great to work with, it's not hard to even out the glitter at all and it dries at a nice pace aswell. I gave it 2 coats over the black to try and give it a bit of depth.

The pictures are with a layer of top coat.

So pretty and filled with glitter!

Sally Hansen - Save the Date

Today I want to show you a polish from Sally Hansen.

Save the Date is a dark plum/purple metallic with very fine shimmer from Sally Hansen's Diamond Strength line. It's a very pretty color and I was totally in love when I got it on my nails! Further more it has a nice formula which makes it easy to work with, it's totally opaque after 2 coats and it has a nice drying time aswell.

I don't own many of Sally Hansen's nail polishes mostly because I'm not totally impressed by many of the colors they make, but the few I have I'm very happy with.

Time for pictures!

The pictures are with top coat.

Soooo gorgoues even though it's such a simple polish without much bling and stuff.
